Description
 The
song of the Meadowlark thrills the heart and uplifts the human spirit
in this nature-lovers Mecca and the Meadowlark Festival celebrates
spring with numerous educational events that introduce participants
to the geology, natural and cultural history of the region. The
South Okanagan is home to more than 100 distinct types of wildlife
habitat, plants and animals unique in Canada. Seek the Meadowlark,
Sandhill Crane, Mountain and Western Bluebird, Yellow-breasted Chat,
Lewis’s Woodpecker and at least 25 other species of birds.
View wildlife on a Voyageur Canoe exploration along the lush margins
of Vaseux Lake beneath McIntyre Bluff inhabited by California Bighorn
Sheep. Visit Giant’s Head Mountain to learn about the formation
of bench land and silt cliffs. Field trips include “Big Day
of Birding” festival event, Summerland Ornamental Gardens,
a ‘night hunt’ for Owls, Nk’Mip Desert & Heritage
Centre, ‘Golden Mile’ wine tasting, and a breakfast
cruise on the Casabella Princess.
